Todays choices come from the cars owned by the people that live in my apartment.

First Option is my 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix with 115,000 miles. Its best feature is heated leather seats yo.

Kinja'd!!!

Second option is a 2009 Ford Fusion. It has over 150,000 miles but thats okay, he puts premium fuel in to the little 4 cylinder (why, oh god why).

Kinja'd!!!

Third option is a pre-facelift Nissan Altima, to be honest I dont know much about this one. Its does have a piece of the front bumper taken out that looks like a shark tooth though

Kinja'd!!!

Fourth and final option is a 5th generation Volkswagen Jetta, the only thing I know about it is that is as one hell of a sketchy service history.

Kinja'd!!!

So, which would you choose?

Well... Since the Jetta has a bad service history, I’d go for the Pontiac.

I’d take the fusion as a commuter , it seems reliable enough

probably the jetta because I am a glutton for punishment, and it probably would be the least likely to make me want to die from driving it. I didn’t realize how much I would hate driving a “normal” car until I actually thought about DDing one of these.

Gimme the jetta, sketchy service history aside I think I’ll take my chances lest I decide to inflict bodily harm on myself behind the wheel of the Nissan or that Ford. The Pontiac is a start in the right direction but the VW is a better package.

I would take the Jetta assuming that a PPI is allowed and showed no major issues. Even thought I hated my Jetta when I had one, I think I would still like it better than the other 3.

The Altima. My boss drives one and it’s pretty ok inside. Soft-touch stuff, heated seats, and a reasonable dash layout.

The answer is grand Prix. Hands down the best road trip car on the list. Hopefully it has the bulletproof 3800 series ii. The gp gets hate but in reality, it was a decent car. Except the windshield wipers. The hell with those.

Altima seats are terrible, we had a W-body car, and the German with poor maintenance. Fusion it is. Having driven one, it’s not that bad.

Hopefully it’s engine isn’t too jacked up, but I’d pick this one because it’s basically what I drive now with less power, i’ve actually driven the 2010 with 4 cylinder quite a bit (same color as pictured) so I’m very familiar with them.

(yes I know I answered this once, but I figured I should on the formal post)

Ugh, tough choice. I guess I'd go with the Fusion, so I can have endless circular conversations with Sync and get nowhere.

I’m not wild about any of them but I would go Fusion. I liked my stepdads when I would drive it.

It depends on what you want.

The Grand Prix is a great long distance road tripper, and also great on the commute. Not an enthusiast choice, but I love them because my first car was a Grand AM. The GM 3800 Series II is a motor that will not die.

The Ford is a good car, better interior, more fun to drive. Not quite as comfortable, and not as reliable I have been told.

My entire extended family drive Altimas. Everyone. They refuse to die, they drive for well over 200,000 miles with basic maintenance, and they are comfortable. The 2.5L 4 sounds like it’s gargling marbles, that’s normal when it’s cold. The mother in law’s has 150,000 km on it, and feels like it came out of the factory last year. Again, not enthusiast cars, but they will last forever.

I don’t know much about the altima, but I would definitely go for the Grand Prix if you’re looking for a daily driver and not an enthusiast/sporting car. Series II or Series III Buick 3800 motor will run for ages, comfortable and reasonably good on fuel, great road trip car.
